She engaged in postgraduate studies at Howard University and The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC and Columbia University, New York City.
She was employed by Freedmen's Hospital until she retired, serving in obstetrics and administration. After retiring, Soror Royster moved to Chicago where she resided until her death, April 30, 1995.
