Mildred Wood Lucas
Chi Eta Phi, Sorority Inc.

Soror Mildred Wood Lucas was born in Hartford, Connecticut. She graduated from Freedmen's Hospital School of Nursing, Washington, DC, in 1928. She engaged in postgraduate studies at Howard University and The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, and The Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia.

She worked in hospital, public health, nursing education, and school nursing. She served as a Special Services Nurse for the American Red Cross during the flood in Louisville, Kentucky in 1937. Soror Lucas served the Sorority as Grammateus in 1932 and National Tamias, 1945-1951.

She was instrumental in stimulating interest in the Sorority in Baltimore, Maryland, where Gamma Chapter was organized; and in Hartford, Connecticut where Chi Chapter was organized. Soror Lucas died August 29, 1999.
