Lillian Mosley Boswell

Soror Lillian Mosely Boswell graduated from Freedmen's Hospital School of Nursing, Washington, DC. She pursued postgraduate work at Columbia University, New York City, The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, and the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston. While in the positions of staff nurse and operating room supervisor at Freedmen's Hospital, Soror Boswell had the opportunity to work closely with several outstanding Black surgeons, including Dr. Charles Drew and Dr. Burke Syphax.

Held in high regard by the surgeons, nurses and administrators for her expertise in operating room administration, Soror Boswell received citations and awards for exemplary performance of duties and will be remembered for the instructions and guidance she gave to the medical and nursing staffs. She served as treasurer for Alpha Chapter for the period 1932-1958. Soror Boswell lived in California after her retirement from Freedmen's Hospital in 1958. She died October 10, 1986.
