Katherine Chandler Turner
Chi Eta Phi, Sorority Inc.

Soror Katherine Chandler Turner was a native of Springfield, Ohio. She graduated from Freedmen's Hospital School of Nursing, Washington, DC, in 1931. She received the Bachelor of Science degree in nursing education from Teacher's College, Columbia University, New York City.

She pursued graduate studies at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan and Columbia University. Her professional career was in public health nursing where she was the first Black nursing supervisor in the Washington Metropolitan area.

Soror Turner served the Sorority as national headquarters trustee from 1976-1978. She was active in professional and civic organizations, including the National Organization for Public Health and the American Red Cross. She died on November 17, 1991.
